3/4 CG has been given a free trial to use ‘Pixton’, an online web application that allows students to create their own comics. It is a great way of presenting the students stories. Click on the logo above to access the site. I am looking forward to reading lots of fantastic comics from the students.

Lately in 3/4 CG we have been working on writing information reports. Here are a few examples of some complete info reports by Maddie, Joey, Georgia and Alex. We hope you enjoy reading them.

This term in maths our class has been learning about Fractions. So far we have learnt that Fractions are equal parts of a whole. We have also completed a sheet where we have to write it, draw it and make it. With write it we wrote the fraction we did. With draw it we had to draw the fraction but it had to be equal. With make it we folded a piece of paper into our choosen fraction and then we would have to cut out the pieces we made.

Caritas helps lots of poor and and homeless people. Caritas Australia teaches the less fortunate to farm and grow crops to help feed there children and families so they can survive. They also teach them to build shelter so they are warm and safe. Caritas also builds better food storages which allows then to store their food supply longer. Caritas lends peolpe pigs and cows so they can sell them and get money so they can buy food and water. Caritas is helping thousands of people living in povety. Caritas is helping many of the peolpe in the poor parts of Africa and Nepal and lots of other places. By 2015 Caritas wants to help all of the peple living in povity and feed all of the starving men, women and children that are starving.  We think Caritas is a great way to save all the starving people.

For the past weeks we have been playing letters and numbers.
It all started in maths when Mr.G came up with a game where you are given four numbers and a target number that you have to reach using the for numbers you were given. You can use any method in maths to reach the target number but you can not use any number twice , we also did letters where you were given 9 numbers and you had to make the longest word and you can not use a letter twice.

The teachers decided we would do it at mission fete the representetives of the numbers for 3/4cg were Mitch Clark and Molly Johnston.

The representitives for the letters were Mia Smith and Lucy Teese on the day of mission fete Mia was away so Maddie had to fill in onl maddie and mitch were the only winners for our class and it was fun.

This week we have been writing narratives. A narrative is a story where you write a fiction story. First you have to write a plan, then you have to start writing a draft. When you have finished your draft you have to edit it. Once you have edited it you can type it up. Then you print it out and you can show it to all your friends. I think narratives are really fun.

The students in 3/4 CG have recorded a short message for their Father’s on Father’s day.  Everyone in 3/4 CG would like to wish all our dads a happy and exciting father’s day.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week the students of 3/4 CG will be participating in the Australian Maths Challenge through the Mathletics website.  At this stage 400,000 students from nearly 5000 schools across Austalia have participated!  Sutdents are invited to test their understanding in Maths against other students from all over Australia in the live, online competition.  We are very excited about taking part.

This Thursday and Friday the students in 3/4 CG will also have the opportunity to participate in the Australian Spelling Challenge via the Spellodrome website. The challenge is very similar to the maths challenge only testing students on their spelling knowledge.
